Description
The Irukere is held by the Oba (King) of the Yoruba kingdom as a symbol of authority.
It’s made from the tail of animals, mostly the horse as it is believed that the power of an animal is concentrated in its tail. This mass of hair is then held together with leather and embroidered with glass beads of different colors to form a desired pattern.
